That said, you cannot go toe-to-toe with most opposition teams, and you must keep your Gutter Runners and Thrower safe as much as possible, so you will need to master the art of screening and shielding, both on offense and defense, to keep them close to the action without putting them in harm's way. Every drive on either side of the ball is an opportunity and so you can position your players aggressively, particularly by keeping a Gutter Runner in scoring range at all times or lurking close to the opponent's ball carrier. For this reason, you will rarely benefit from playing the kind of slow and controlled Blood Bowl that many teams favor. Their lightning-quick players enable them to pounce on any opposition mistakes or misfortunes and quickly turn them into touchdowns. Skaven are one of the few teams in Blood Bowl who are arguably just as capable of scoring defensively as offensively. You can revisit this player in the future.
Its prohibitive cost and risky gameplay are not a good fit when starting a new team. The only notable piece this build omits is the Rat Ogre.
You do have the option of dropping one of the Linemen to start with the Apothecary instead if you feel extra cautious about keeping your skill players healthy. Three Re-rolls is a great advantage as many other teams cannot fit this many in.įinally, you have 30k left over, which I advise spending on Dedicated Fans, as this will quickly reap dividends. The Thrower can be used as a pick-up and delivery mechanism, while your Blitzers should be used to hit and move opponents.
You can only fit in three of the four possible Gutter Runners, but this is certainly enough to have an unstoppable offense in your early games. This build gives you everything you need to play the classic Skaven game right out of the box.
